 退伍軍人福利法生效 孟昭文續推新法


國會眾議員孟昭文4日宣布，其所提出、旨在讓退伍軍人權益大幅增加的法案已獲總統簽署生效；新法除了將助退伍軍人取得更多福利，並將強化美國軍隊的多樣性。

孟昭文所推動的退伍軍人福利法，其中包括要求國防部資助大專院校，在外部招生上投入更多努力，在美軍軍官階層中增加少數族裔比重等，欲有效改善美軍少數族裔軍官數量不足狀況。同時，也將要求退伍軍人事務部(VA)拓展當地藥局提供的免費流感疫苗注射項目，取得更多疫苗配給數量。

新法也將聯合國防部與退伍軍人事務部建立新計畫，協助軍醫轉業到退伍軍人健康管理局(VHA)就業，即解決退伍軍人健康管理局醫生吃緊問題，同時也服務全國近900萬名退伍軍人。

孟昭文指出，退伍軍人應該得到我們的支持與感謝，新法解決了退伍軍人和軍方所面臨的挑戰中的第一步，將在下一個財年繼續推動更多立法，幫助退伍軍人。
